The Ring of Kerry, starting point for the drive - Killarney

Posted 1 year ago by pint in response to sunnyride's question: I just got my driving license and I was thinking to pursue the Ring of Kerry. Any tips for this scenic drive starting at Killarney? (give a different answer) .

Yes: don't do it! it's awfully crowded, you'll get stuck in car jams and ruin your little vacation. It's true the drive is beautiful, a 110-mile coastal curled road along N70, passing by all dips and bumps of the Iveragh Peninsula, but think of 20 tour-buses lined in front of you.... To avoid the agglomeration, just start your trip at Kenmare, a 19th century market town, 20 miles from Killarney.
